Jason E. Bowman
London-based artist with a curatorial practice, writer, researcher and educator.
Jason works primarily by commission to realise art works that address political, economic, social and cultural coercions of publics through participatory methods. His work is informed by latent histories, psychoanalytic thought and the theorisation of time and place. He never touches his own works, which are realized through interpretation by others via their fantasies of what it may be. Likewise, his curatorial projects focus on commissioning as a multi-perspectival imaginary of art works that don’t yet exist or on the reactivation of practices that have been obscured or are intentionally marginal. He writes on contemporary art for artists.
He is MFA: Fine Art Programme Leader at Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg.
